Now here we are at the end. My fingernails are about as closer to the bone as ever. I am mentally and physically wiped out. And I head back to work tomorrow.
I had two main goals and one minor one to do this break. 1) Rest – a lot. 2) Read – a lot. 3) Get a few things done around the house that were not getting done all by themselves.
I managed to tackle the last one well enough this Saturday along with a good house cleaning since we had relatives over for a late Christmas dinner (something that happens about every decade I guess). The first two really did not happen. I was too exhausted to read and then too active trying to plug up the swiss cheese dam we call sick kids with my two forefingers.
This reminds me of a funny commercial from the Superbowl the Rams won against the Titans back in 2000 where the most .com commercials in history were run before the whole .com boom busted just months later. You know the one about herding cats (see below). That was my "vacation" week. We were strangely glad to take down the tree and decorations this morning. The symbol of our exhaustion is now gone. But the memories remain thickly embedded in my yawning mouth and achy limbs.
Well, back to kid puke, kid whining, and another knock down drag out fight to get to sleep.
