The Friday Rundown

Biblioblogging

Ben Witherington posts on The New Perspective on Paul from a forthcoming volume. Mike Clawson adds to the inerrancy debate fray with another reasonable sortee against it.  And no one has looked at my question regarding Mark 12 (I really am interested and still have not had time to get up to the library to research it further).

Sarah Glass posted a question on chastity that has sparked a nice conversation.  Adam directs us to a wonderful new programming venture called The Phoenix Journal.  be sure to check out the interview with GA moderator candidate Bruce Reyes-Chow with guest host and old friend of mine from Princeton, Brian Ellison.  Carol discusses her interactions with folks at an Everything Must Change engagement.  Tony Jones asks a good question regarding the tiresome liberal/conservative divide in churches.

Education and Religion

More debate over the California state ruling regarding homeschooling took place.  Read my comments here, but stop by Melissa Rogers' blog where she posts a link to a good legal analysis.  Sally Kern's speech created quite the hub-bub here that I noticed first with James' comments.  Looks like Kern and Cal Thomas need to get together and pray for us a little more so that homosexuality does not bring another 9/11 from God down upon us.  Read why here.  In other Oklahoma news, Hemant Mehta looks at education (or indoctrination if you prefer) in the Sooner state.

Speaking of which, Bob Cornwall posts a nice little memoir of a trip to the Creation Museum from Sightings.  Giddy Up Jesus!  Ride that dino!  Chris Marlin-Warfiled continues paging through The God Delusion (God, er the Christian psychological ideation called God, bless him for being so disciplined with that).  Ken Brown has a couple of nice posts on atheism here and here.  John Stackhouse offers some thoughts on Christianity and sex which continues the line of discussion around other related issues that I have linked to above.

Quite the debate has ensued over Abilene Christian University's new iPhone mobile initiative. A preacher visits colleges with the love of Christ for all humankind, giving to the poor and the lame.

Finally here is a link to an essay by Robert Bellah which you need to read.  Just because you need to.  Is The Immanent Frame not the best academic blog for religion ever?
