Fr. Michael Pfleger of the Faith Community of St. Sabina in Chicago was recently "interviewed" by Bill O'Reilly's team of hacks for Fox News in front of his parish. The interview was prompted by the invitation of Dr. Wright to the community's African American speaking series as a kind of homecoming for the oft berated and demonized pastor.
This clip lasts about 10 minutes, but it is riveting stuff. Not only do I think that Fr. Pfleger's responses are stuff of gold in the speaking truth to power sense of proclamation, but I also find the line of questioning to be fascinating as well as disturbing. The interviewer's approach is argumentative and clearly fishing for a sound-byte to find Fr. Pfleger guilty by association, if not to hold his entire sense of conviction suspect. I think he handles each jab quite well and this clip reveals the media hallucination that programs like the O'Reilly factor reinforce.
Fr. Pfleger was awarded an honorary doctorate from North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago.

Wow, great job Fr. Pfleger! St Sabina's website is pretty powerful too. I felt like I was listening to an argumentative child rather than a journalist. He almost made Gerry Springer sound like a bonafide journalist.

Good for him to stand up to such an annoying questioner. I'm probably a lesser man because I wouldn't bother to converse with someone who chooses to communicate in such a disrespectful manner.

I know. I am not the good politico like that. I would probably have told the guy, "What do you want me to say. Just tell me so I can give your gluttons for lies and misconstruals a tidy sound-byte for the rest of your stupid audience to feed on this week because they can't think for themselves." Then I would tell him to suck it.

I'm not sure I would waste words, usually a WTF eyebrow is enough.

That video was great. That reporter sounded so ignorant and amateur. It's amazing his boss is still on TV.

When I listen to Pfleger, I just think, that's what preaching the Gospel is. It's good news that changes things – often in ways that are not hospitable to what makes people warm and fuzzy.

Wow! What a powerful message. I actually had to feel a little sorry for the interviewer, he was totaly out of his depth and over his head.

Not anywhere near the same, but the situation reminded me of this: Cynical reporter walks up to young black kid supporting Obama and tries to embarrass him by exposing his assumed ignorance. Needless to say, he gets served

The Rev. Pfleger, while speaking to a crown at a rally designed to shut down a lawful firearms business, said "We're going to snuff out John Riggio" [the store's owner]. He was later justly rebuked by his Bishop for this inciting hate speech. Calling on a crowd to kill someone violates both the law of God and of the state. To this date Rev. Pfleger has not apologized to the store's owner for his call to kill him.
