Five Commandments of Commenting

I have learned that I equally offend conservatives (theologically and politically) as well as liberals (theologically and politically).  I don’t care if I offend people really.  Maybe it’s because I really do not offend easily.

Look, we are all frail beings on a frail planet and if we can’t have fun making fun of our stupidity in the midst of it all…  Well we can’t which is why we have anti-depressants and other psychosomatic drugs to ease the tensions.

So I wanted reveal some rules here.  You can break them all you want to.  I don’t care.  But I want to put them here so you know how I will respond.

  1. Thou shalt not respond with ad hominems*.  Then ad hominems shall you receive tenfold.  Therefore, if you judge the character of the author or those whom he loves, he will likely latch onto you like a pit-bull until you submit.  This includes comments on other blogs about the posts the author has written.
  2. Thou shalt not judge the character of the author.  Or the author will reserve the right to poopy all over you.
  3. Thou shalt not take it personally.  Or the author will only offend you more - unless he likes you then he will get all “pastoral” n’nat.  He’ll figure out with you where you disagree and move on.
  4. Thou shalt not reference Bible verses as if literalism is actually defensible (ironically without any defense), or assume that Dawkins, Hitchens, and Harris are simply correct (and pass that off as being “intelligent”).  The author will reserve the right to set both of these kinds of folk up in a cage match and charge Pay Per View on DirecTV - somehow.
  5. Thou shalt learn to laugh - at everything here and at thyself.  If thou cans’t not, then thou art a poopyhead.

*If you do not know what an ad hominem is, then…well…learn something.
