I have found nothing interesting since the Olympic swimming competition ended. Class preps I have worked on all summer are basically done. I really cannot stand baseball and would rather fall asleep to golf or bowling. I have read about 25 books in the past few months and that kind of made me tired. Anyone who works in higher education administration knows how busy the month of August is and I am feeling kind of burned out.
So nothing theological interests me right now.
The Bentley thing is already overdone and it's still stupid to fawn over the guy. But I am not even entertained by it all anymore and it bores me. He will always be a charlatan and an incarnation of the Spirit of the Anti-Christ so get over it and follow something else.
I really no longer care about Obama and McCain doing Inside the Actor's Studio at a big ass church in California. I don't think I really ever did except that the whole thing still seems exceedingly strange and not all that monumental in the scheme of things.
I don't really care about Obama's VP selection tomorrow and I hate that it is all we will hear about this week. Blech. Who you vote for is about the brand you want to buy. Cynical? Yes. True? You bet. Sorry to crush your premature idealism or moralistic conservativism. You are a consumer and that is how you will vote this year. It is also why you don't vote for or know much about your local and state politicians who are making decisions on your behalf. The brand, if they even bother to create one, is less salient and less interesting so you don't care.
Chad Johnson is uninteresting, even if both strange and an idiot (and I can't wait for the Steelers to slam his ass into the dirt this year). He will never be a Jerry Rice or Art Monk.
Who really cares who Tony Romo is screwing, allegedly, anyway?
Most music that most people hear on a regular basis sucks. Where'd the James Gang go anyway?
I would rather drink than think.
I would rather sleep than be awake.
I want to watch weird film noir flicks that I have never seen for a day and eat crappy food and drink beer. I think that could be a spa for men.
I wonder how many people were more offended than amused by my last post.
I wonder how they could not think that was hilarious – I was on a roll. But if laughter is the suspension of thought, it worked for me.
The pre-season football game tonight is the Texans and the Cowboys. Wow. Suck.
I am thinking I should be playing drums at some cheesy bar rocking out to some Tool or Deftones song with the guys on a Friday night, but I am too tired for that which is why I am not.
Here's to the weekend.
I clearly need to rest.

Clearly you do need some rest, or a good stiff drink or both for that matter.
I do echo most of your feelings. However, I am happily playing Portal right now. That might help break you out of your funk.
Disdain, disillusionment, boredom . . .
It's a good thing to GET what just doesn't matter!
Prayers for you that some things worth your passion and interest are made IRRESISTIBLE by the action of the Triune God within your emotions . . . .
Might as well finish with "You kids get off my lawn! Next time I'm going to keep your ball!"
LOL!
You should put some videos up of you on the drums jamming to Tool or Deftones. That would be awesome!!
Bryan
Haha. They can stay on my lawn if they mow it too
I thought disdain was the default viewpoint. Are you suggesting it isn't?
Drew, If you want to watch a weird film noir flick that you (may) not have seen before, check out Beat the Devil. Written (in collaboration with Truman Capote) and directed by John Huston, it stars Humphrey Bogart, with support from Peter Lorre and Gina Lollobrigida, among others.
Characterized as the first "camp" movie, Bogart opined that "Only phonies like it." I'm one!
