If McCain is trying to call Obama out about Ayers, he also needs to call out one of his supporters and the Annenberg Foundation. This is not about Obama being honest for something he should not be guilty of, it's about a cheap character smear.
"Barack Obama and domestic terrorist Bill Ayers. Friends. They've worked together for years," the ad says. The ad also claims that one of the nonprofits on which Obama and Ayers worked was a radical education foundation.
That educational foundation was The Annenberg Challenge. It was funded by the Annenberg Foundation, a charity set up by longtime Republican backer and newspaper publisher Walter Annenberg. Annenberg has died, but his wife has endorsed McCain this year. For his work on this educational project, Chicago gave Ayers its "Citizen of the Year" award in 1997.
McCain: Obama link to ex-radical is honesty issue.

That ad sounds like McCain being dishonest. The ridiculous thing is that some Americans actually believe these lies. They wouldn't get away with it here.
I wasn't aware that Chicago gave Ayers Citizen of the Year. That's the thing about Ayers. By the time Obama got to know him he was already a professor at the University of Illinois and a well respected in Chicago. This is someone who the mayor of Chicago gets educational advice from (which seems to be Obama's link to Ayers).
I'd like to see them pull more guilt by association with all of the people Ayers knows and worked with. I'd be interested in seeing how many there really are and how many are really upstanding and respected people.
