Can McCain Stop Lying to Our Faces Already?

McCain continues to piss on us and tell us that it's raining.

"Republican presidential candidate John McCain has told supporters in Ohio that his Democratic rival, Barack Obama, will raise taxes on the middle class. With five days left for the presidential election, McCain is touring swing states."

I included a popular image you might find on the back of pick-up trucks in the US that typically features a Chevy or Ford logo (I DO live in the land of guns, religion, and antipathy to people not like me after all). You can put the Obama logo there if you want since that's McCain's stump message and basis of government so far. Or you can put a photo of Palin kneeling down to orally catch it. Either works and is closer to the truth than McCain's stump speeches these days.

If this ticket gets elected, I just want to pre-emptively apologize for the second time to all of our would-be international friends who will think that we have truly lost our minds as a nation – again.

  1. Maybe it's because McCain is actually that out of touch. It sounds like he thinks that 250k is middle class. He doesn't realize that 250k is almost 5Xs the income that most of us make.

I'm amazed by the number of people making $50,000 a year who are so concerned that Obama is going to raise taxes on people making more than $250,000/year. The McCain/Palin rhetoric, as crazy as it is, is working on some people.

Drew, if this ticket gets elected, my lack of faith in the American people will once again be proven to be well founded. I hope I'm wrong and we're actually ready to move forward.

There with you bro. The best thing about this whole process for me is that I have found my own political ideology I think for the first time clearly. It's now more difficult for me to support any party, but I sure as hell support O. We will just have to watch him when he is in office. I want him there, but that does not mean he should not be held accountable.

I think that might be it. I have no clue how you can see the world through that lens, but maybe he simply does and that's why I don't get it.

He isn't out of touch. A significant segment of his base actually believe that any taxation is an intolerable injustice. This is augmented by those that consider it a necessary evil, but that if it must exist, it should be "flat" not progressive. Those that aren't entirely convinced that it is out and out evil none the less feel it isn't exactly the best policy and want to limit it in some way.

The rest of his base are just suckers.
