I am trying to start a new emergent cohort in the south central PA area somewhere between Johnstown and State College where I live. I have started a new website at http://weareemergent.wordpress.com and a Facebook group. I have also started a Twitter feed. This is the description of the group:
A gathering of people deepening faith through knowledge and friendships.
- For those who want to connect with God and with others, to find a spiritual home, but have often felt that the politics and the denominations of our world have left them abandoned and seeking.
- For those who question Christianity, its history, and its relationship to other faiths.
- For those who want a safe place to express themselves and share their gifts with others.
- For those who are not satisfied with the shape of their world and want to make changes wherever they are able.
- For those who want to bridge the gaps in how Christianity is expressed in the South Central Pennsylvania region.
- For those who have denominational homes but want to find broader connections and meet people who share similar views about the world and faith.
- For those interested in Christianity, but consider themselves agnostic or even atheist.
- For those who desire openness, a community to explore authentic identity no matter what that is, and seek the face of God in earnest.
- For those who seek justice, mercy, hospitality, compassion, and openness in a world that is often closed off and selfish.
More about the journey than the destination, more about becoming better people than becoming doctrinally pure, and dedicated to finding new friends who all want to see something better in the world to deepen faith in the God who calls people together.
