lutherans and same gender relationships: best post

I love blogging because you find things that you would never find. This post from one William Lindsey linked to mine over the misleading bias of the AP news wire and Get Religions' ugly capitulation to inaccuracy and clear ideological bias against homosexuals despite their call to set the record straight regarding religion and the media.

I’m stressing this theme re: media coverage of the Lutheran assembly because the problem is growing worse, rather than better. And my sense is that it’s going to grow even worse. LGBT Americans and those who stand in solidarity with us need to recognize that many in the media have a vested interest in combating equality for gay Americans. The more we experience breakthroughs in churches like the ELCA, the stronger the push is going to be from the right, and from mainstream media that often willingly function as mouthpieces for the right. And we need to push back—hard.

William's post gets better. He picks up what I initially broke (I think I scooped in in large part thanks to David Congdon's Tweet) and expands on it showing you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Read this and only this regarding how the media has been reporting on the LGBT community and the church. It's why I blog and why I love the Christian community as flawed and messed up as it is.

I for one am pushing; as hard as a straight guy in Appalachia can. I know John's doing his part as well. I know of many others in the Christian community, the church, who are fighting the good fight. We shall overcome.
