Palin: Jane Six-Pack?

Why is Sarah Palin so divisive?  Let’s see how she fielded Hewitt’s question:

Hugh Hewitt: Governor, your candidacy has ignited extreme hostility, even some hatred on the left and in some parts of the media. Are you surprised? And what do you attribute this reaction to?

Sarah Palin: Oh, I think they’re just not used to someone coming in from the outside saying you know what? It’s time that normal Joe six-pack American is finally represented in the position of vice presidency, and I think that that’s kind of taken some people off guard, and they’re out of sorts, and they’re ticked off about it….

Anderson Cooper 360: Blog Archive - Vice President Sarah six-pack « - Blogs from CNN.com.

No. It’s the evidence since we first met her that she is inept and not prepared for the position. Once again, it’s not her, it is the political judgment of John McCain to choose her and then run his whole campaign as an image construction of Barack Obama as a media hounding, self-aggrandizing politico doing what’s only expedient for his campaign and himself. The biggest campaign decision by McCain was exactly the kind of image that he is trying to construct of Obama. The difference is that the image of Obama he is constructing is hyper-real, it’s simulacra, while the reality that Palin is a pure political choice that truly puts McCain first seems more palpable and obvious not as rhetoric or suggestive advertising, but as evidence.

Also, we have had a “Joe Six Pack” President for eight years. Has that worked out very well?  Let’s re-live Ronald Reagan’s closing remarks in his debate with Jimmy Carter to get our answer.

Palin is clearly not the next Reagan or Clinton.
